apt-get build-dep paquete, instala lo que se necesita para construir un paquete como viene de "fabrica"
apt-build paquete, compila el paquete con las reglas de "fabrica"

por cierto

sudo apt-get install apt-build <- para poder utilizarlo
 

a menos que quiera compilar una versión de un paquete que no este como viene en la distro no necesita mas que estos comandos

de todas formas corriganmen si me equivoco :P

Hola Alex.

Primero que todo, ¿no has intentado instalarlo usando apt? Es la forma
más fácil:

$ sudo apt-get install freej

Ahora si lo que quieres es compilar, el error parece indicar que te
hace falta la librería de S-Lang. O tal vez tengas la versión
equivocada. Intenta instalar un paquete que se llamen algo así como
libslang-dev.
